The PKU Hall was built for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Peking University. Now it has become a famous landmark on campus and an important venue for academic, cultural and artistic activities.
On the occasion of 100th anniversary of Peking University in 1998, the PKU Hall Seat Project was proposed and initiated by the Peking University Alumni Association (Shenzhen). The project has been warmly received and supported ever since. By the end of 2000 when the Hall was officially put into use, it had received donation for 578 seats by 436 individuals and organizations, with the total donation reaching RMB 1,730,000.
How to participate in the project
1. Every alumnus and alumna is free to participate in the project in honor of himself or herself.
2. Each seat requires a donation of RMB 3000 or $ 400.
3. A memorial bronze medal with the name of the donor inscribed on it will be embedded in front of the seat back in honor of the donor.
4. The seats are claimed in sequence from front to back, and left to right in accordance with the sequence of donation. A special area will be dedicated to seats donated by groups.
5. After receiving the gift, Peking University Education Foundation will provide an official receipt to the donor and issue a certificate of honor for the PKU Hall Seat Project and a piece of copperplate of the exterior panorama of the Hall. The certificate will also include the number of the seat donated.
6. The project will come to an end when all the 2,169 seats in the Hall are claimed by donors.
