PKU Hall Seat Project The PKU Hall was built for the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Peking University. Now it has become a famous landmark on campus and an important venue for academic, cultural and artistic activities. On the occasion of 100th anniversary of Peking University in 1998, the PKU Hall Seat Project was proposed and initiated by the Peking University Alumni Association (Shenzhen). The project has been warmly received and supported ever since. By the end of 2000 when the Hall was officially put into use, it had received donation for 578 seats by 436 individuals and organizations, with the total donation reaching RMB 1,730,000. How to participate in the project 1. Every alumnus and alumna is free to participate in the project in honor of himself or herself. 2. Each seat requires a donation of RMB 3000 or $ 400. 3. A memorial bronze medal with the name of the donor inscribed on it will be embedded in front of the seat back in honor of the donor. 4. The seats are claimed in sequence from front to back, and left to right in accordance with the sequence of donation. A special area will be dedicated to seats donated by groups. 5. After receiving the gift, Peking University Education Foundation will provide an official receipt to the donor and issue a certificate of honor for the PKU Hall Seat Project and a piece of copperplate of the exterior panorama of the Hall. The certificate will also include the number of the seat donated. 6. The project will come to an end when all the 2,169 seats in the Hall are claimed by donors.
Peking University Alumni Fund Peking University Alumni Fund was founded jointly by Peking University Alumni Association and Peking University Education Foundation, dedicated to attract more alumni to participate in the development of the University. Alumni, either in the name of individuals or organizations, are free to contribute to the Fund. Every gift is appreciated and various channels are offered for you to participate, including cash, bonds, estate, etc. The funds are mainly directed to infrastructure projects, scholarships, fellowships, faculty excellence rewards, alumni reunions and addressing the emergent situations. Professional management will be provided by the Fund Management Committee and the use of funds will be published on the alumni magazine PKUer and the website of the Alumni Association each year, the copy of which will be kept in the Peking University Archives.
¡°Love Our Alma Mater¡± Annual Giving The ¡°Love Our Alma Mater¡± project was initiated on the 105th anniversary of the University in 2003. The alumni donation project encourages each alumnus and alumna to donate an amount of money that equals the anniversary of the University (for instance, RMB 105 in 2003, RMB 106 in 2004, RMB 107 in 2005, RMB 108 in 2006 ...). A set of thank-you cards will be presented to you to acknowledge your support and also serve as a reminder of your past golden days on campus. Alumni are free to participate in the project, either in the way of annual giving or one-time payment of the amount needed for 4 years. All the gifts will be directed to the Peking University Alumni Fund.
Peking University Gymnasium Seat Project Peking University Gymnasium (PKG), the venue for the table tennis events of the Beijing Olympics, was inaugurated in October, 2007. It covers a total building area of 26,000 square meters, containing 6,000 permanent seats. Its rooftop is featured with the structure of ¡°China Ridge¡±, resembling the traditional ethics of Chinese intellectuals. In December 2007, it was utilized as the venue for Good Luck Beijing Table Tennis ITTF Pro-TOUR Grand Finals. After the conclusion of Olympic Games, the Gym can be utilized to meet the needs for physical education, training, and recreation of the University community and neighboring communities as well. How to participate in the project 1. Every alumnus and alumna is free to participate in the project in the name of person or organization and each seat requires a donation of RMB3,000 or $500. 2. A memorial medal with the name of the donor inscribed on it will be embedded in the seat back for recognition. 3. The seats are claimed in sequence from front to back, and left to right in accordance with the sequence of donation. A special area will be dedicated to seats donated by groups. 4. Peking University Education Foundation (USA) will receive and manage donations from the North America. After receiving the gift, Peking University Education Foundation will provide an official receipt to the donor and issue a certificate of honor for the PKG Seat Project. The certificate will include the number of the seat donated. 5. Peking University Alumni Association and Peking University Education Foundation are responsible of receiving and managing the gifts in China and other regions besides North America. After receiving the gift, an official receipt to the donor will be provided and a certificate of honor for the PKU Gymnasium Seat Project will be issued, with the number of the seat donated in it. How to give to the project 1. Download and fill in the return receipt for giving to the PKG Seat Project, and mail it to: Room 113, Peking University Education Foundation, Peking University, Haidian District, Beijing. Please make sure that your name, contact information and ¡°Giving to PKG Seat Project¡± are included in your bank receipt. 3. The donation to Peking University Education Foundation is entitled to tax reduction according to the No. 164 [2006] of the Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation issued on 24th November, 2006.
