2005年香港牛津基金会奖学金申请通知

A small number of bursaries of between GBP 1,500 and 4,000 are offered by the Hong Kong Oxford Scholarship Fund to students starting postgraduate study at Oxford University in October, 2005.These are intended to supplement the existing financial resources of applications. This year, we may also consider providing one full scholarship (of around GBP 12,000) for a student demonstrating extremely outstanding achievement.

The bursaries are available to students who are ordinary resident in Hong Kong or in the People’s Republic of China, have been accepted by the University and by a College for a post-graduate course and plan to return and benefit Hong Kong or the People’s Republic of China on completion of their studies. The selection of candidates will be based on academic merit and financial need. Bursaries are not awarded to those who already have full funding form other sources.

There is no application form. Candidates should send a letter of applications by ORDINARY (and NOT registered) post to the Hong Kong Oxford Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 2755, G.P.O., Hong Kong and enclose the following:

1.A curriculum vitae (including a passport size photo)

2.A statement of 500-1,000 words to explain how their proposed studies will benefit Hong Kong or China

3.Evidence of financial need (e.g. bank statements or other proofs of income/family income)

4.Evidence of additional sources of funding (e.g. offers of scholarship)

5.References from two recent academic referees

6.Proof of acceptance of conditional acceptance by an Oxford College (this can be supplied later after the initial application)

The may also be requested to attend an interview in Hong Kong in July, 2005 or in Beijing or elsewhere in China by our panel.

Closing date for application: 20th June, 2005. Students are encouraged to send in their applications as soon as possible, for the purpose of arranging earlier dates for interviews. The Fund aims to announce the results of application by mid August, 2005.
